What the hell have we let ourselves in for?
2 weeks ago I was persuaded in an act of madness to enter an ultramarathon up near Mount Kinabalu on the island of Borneo. 55km of running, walking, crawling and crying. Starting at an elevation of 200m and ending at 1500m, it is going to be one hell of a test. To be honest, the website sold it to me, even though my brain was clearly saying otherwise. I've never run further than 15km in my life, and Borneo has extreme temperature of heat, humidity and jungle thrown into the mix. Anth, a work colleague simply said "It's a once in a lifetime chance." Me, being a bloke, fell for that hook, line and sinker. I have a feeling that over the next few months there will be times when I question the sanity of handing over my credit card details (and my marbles) in order to do this.
